The Qatar World Cup organisers have announced the opening of $207-per-night desert camps for the thousands of fans attending this year’s World Cup. The simplest cabins start at $207 (AED760) and feature a bathroom, bed, Wi-Fi, housekeeping, and access to surrounding restaurants and takeout.

There are three Fan Villages around the nation, each with two single beds or a double bed. The camps are marketed as low-cost replacements to hotels and Airbnb, which are swiftly filling up at ever-increasingly exorbitant costs. Though if you wanted to remain in a prefab box for the duration of the tournament, you’d have to pay $5,598.
“Fan villages are located on the outskirts of Doha but are still accessible via public transport or rideshares, keeping you in easy reach of all of the popular cultural attractions, as well as Fifa World Cup stadiums and activations,” Qatar’s Accommodation Agency said.
