Dancing on the music of bands marched by our covid heroes and celebrating the victory over covid-19, we introduce the magnificent sports festival, 18th BITS Sports Festival, 2021. With the post-pandemic protocols and updated covid-19 guidelines, we aspire to embrace the tournament to much higher heights than in any of the editions before. Starting from the 21st of November and lasting until the 25th of November, and 30+ plus universities as participants, it is one of the biggest sports festivals in UAE.
Throughout the years and different editions of BSF, and welcoming chief guests like, Diego Maradona, Wayne Johnson Bravo, we have come a long way in the journey of proving ourselves the best. This year we have no other than former Indian Cricket Captain and current president of Hyderabad Cricket Association, Mr Mohammad Azharuddin, gracing the event with his presence as the chief guest. He also facilitated withdraw of lots for girls’ team matches where the sports council of our university along with our director, Prof. Dr Srinivasan Madapusi and our sports coordinator and senior manager of Student Services, Dr. Rafiuddin took a heads up towards the tournament from Mr Azharuddin. The delirium of the festival peaked new heights by welcoming a man of such aura as a chief guest. It gave us a reason more to brush up our spirits while on the grounds.
Sports is something that kills unarmed forces of legitimate boredom within a person and demands the supremacy of the ultimate team player and a settled individual soul. Hence, celebrating the melancholy of thunder within each sportsperson, we offer 11 sports to participate in. Be it cricket, badminton, volleyball, chess and so on, both girls’ and boys’ teams have an option to be a part of the thrilling competition offered here. Here we believe that achieving victory is not a must, showcasing a true version of sportsman spirit is paramount.
The zest of all the players during the 5-day tournament undoes the tiredness which is carried along. Many win, many lose but the thrill never dies. The rollercoaster ride of adrenaline rush is never deemed and defines the prolonged allegory of being a team player.
BITS Sports Festival is not just about participating in sports, it’s a celebration of friendships between different universities. All the players play as opponents on the fields and courts but end up mixing up together at the end of the end, demonstrating the true meaning of human existence.
BSF holds up to its traditional values and marks the symbolic unity of all the 7 emirates by carrying a trophy tour and welcoming them to be a part of the festivities. Nothing can light the soul of the organizing committee better than seeing the display of the overall trophy of BSF rising high in the hands of the President of the Sports Council of our University and being embraced by the Director of BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, Prof. Dr Srinivasan Madapusi.
To bring the festivities to life, we have many different activities which come along. Like food stalls, live events and other attractive activities which will not only entertain people but also make this a happy memory, forever to be cherished, for them. So, let’s record it with the camera of our eyes and save it in the memory card of our hearts and make those 5 days special for all of us.
