Wide Range Of Establishments
This rollout will cover a vast array of sectors, including retail, hospitality, transport, and supermarkets. Imagine paying for your meal at a popular restaurant, buying souvenirs, or even shopping at Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates—all with the same ease as you would back in India.
A Game-Changing Partnership
This exciting development is thanks to a collaboration between digital commerce firm Network International and NPCI International Payments Ltd. (NIPL). By integrating UPI with Network’s point of sale (POS) terminals, Indian tourists and NRIs with Indian bank accounts can enjoy a safe and secure QR-based payment method.

Marking The Official Announcement
The news was announced at an event in Dubai, attended by Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India to the UAE, along with senior representatives from Network and NIPL. This partnership aligns with the UAE’s vision of becoming a global hub for tourism and commerce. Network’s Group CEO, Nandan Mer, highlighted the importance of offering customers their preferred payment methods to move closer to a digital UAE. Jamal Al Nassai from Network celebrated the partnership as a significant milestone, expecting immense benefits from this new payment method.
Making A Home For UPI In UAE
With the number of Indian tourists to the GCC countries projected to reach 9.8 million in 2024 and the UAE expecting 5.29 million visitors from India, this UPI integration is perfectly timed. It ensures a smooth and familiar payment experience for Indian tourists, making their stay in the UAE even more enjoyable.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards a more integrated and digital payment ecosystem in the UAE, benefiting both tourists and local businesses alike.
