Abu Dhabi Increases Paid Maternity Leave For Women In Private Sector

I have some amazing news for pregnant mamas working in the Abu Dhabi private sector. Starting Sunday, September 1, your maternity leave is getting an upgrade! An additional 30 days of fully paid leave will be added to your 60-day leave, bringing the new total up to 90 days of paid leave! This initiative, launched by the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, is a welcome relief for many, as 2 months of maternity leave just hasn’t been enough to balance recovery and newborn care. In the UAE, women employed in government jobs already enjoy 3 months of paid maternity leave. However, for those in the private sector, it’s typically a different story – up to 60 days of leave, with only the first 45 days fully paid. This discrepancy often discourages women in the private sector from expanding their families, making the new initiative a step in the right direction.
