If you’re planning to drive through Dubai on Sunday, November 10 or Sunday, November 24, make a note: Sheikh Zayed Road will be temporarily closed to accommodate two exciting events in the Dubai Fitness Challenge. The closures will primarily occur early in the morning to minimize disruption and allow participants to enjoy Dubai’s iconic highway.

On November 10, the Dubai Ride will transform Sheikh Zayed Road into a cyclist’s paradise. From beginner riders to seasoned cyclists, this unique event allows participants to pedal along a closed stretch of the road. However, all riders must complete their route by 8:15 am, as the road will re-open shortly after to resume regular traffic flow. Options include a 4km family route through Downtown Dubai and a 12km route that lets riders enjoy breathtaking views of landmarks like the Museum of the Future, Coca-Cola Arena, and Business Bay.
Two weeks later, on November 24, Dubai Run will take over Sheikh Zayed Road, inviting runners of all skill levels to race on one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares. The 5km route kicks off near the Museum of the Future, taking participants past iconic sites like the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera, with the finish line near Dubai Mall. For a longer challenge, the 10km route follows a scenic path across the Dubai Canal Bridge and ends near the DIFC Gate. The road is expected to stay closed until the last runners complete their course, with the last wave for the 10km route starting at 7:30 am and the 5km at 8 am.

Public Transport Reminder: The Dubai Metro will remain operational during both events, so if you need to navigate through Downtown, the Metro provides a convenient alternative.
Sheikh Zayed Road closures are a rare chance for residents to experience the city from a whole new perspective, so if you’d like to join in, registration for both events is still open.
