Dubai has taken yet another leap toward improving its road infrastructure with the opening of a new three-lane bridge connecting Sheikh Rashid Road to the city’s iconic Infinity Bridge. This announcement from RTA highlights the city’s commitment to streamlining traffic flow and catering to its growing urban needs.
Strengthening The City’s Infrastructure
Part of the expansive Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, the new bridge spans the stretch from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street intersection to Falcon Interchange on Al Mina Street, covering a total of 4.8 km. This is just one milestone in a larger plan to reshape how traffic moves across Dubai.
More Bridges To Come In The City
This project doesn’t stop at one bridge. Three additional bridges, with a combined length of 3.1 km, are also being constructed. Together, these structures will handle an impressive 19,400 vehicles per hour, ensuring that Dubai’s bustling roads remain efficient.
Here’s a breakdown of the bridges (locations still undisclosed, as of now):
- First Bridge
- Length: 1,335 meters
- Lanes: Three in each direction
- Capacity: 10,800 vehicles per hour (both ways)
- Purpose: Connects Sheikh Rashid Road to Falcon Interchange.
- Second Bridge
- Length: 780 meters
- Lanes: Three
- Capacity: 5,400 vehicles per hour
- Purpose: Links Falcon Interchange to Al Wasl Road.
- Third Bridge
- Length: 985 meters
- Lanes: Two
- Capacity: 3,200 vehicles per hour
- Purpose: Facilitates traffic from Jumeirah Street to Al Mina Street, heading toward Falcon Interchange.
Bringing Easy To Busy Roads
This ambitious development also includes upgrading 4.8 km of roads and refining surface intersections at Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street. Additionally, two pedestrian bridges are being constructed – one on Sheikh Rashid Road and another on Al Mina Street.
Other features include:
- Improved traffic systems
- Street lighting upgrades
- Rainwater drainage systems
- An irrigation network
From smoother traffic flow to safer pedestrian crossings, this project is a testament to Dubai’s forward-thinking infrastructure planning! Stay tuned to Gulf Buzz for all the latest updates on this project, as we get them.
