A dry night has been declared in Dubai this week to mark the Hijri New Year which is also known as the Islamic new year. The dry night will start from 6:30 pm on Wednesday and will last until 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 20. The circular issued by Dubai Tourism and the Dubai government mentions all venues that serve alcohol in the emirate will have to stop serving for that time frame. Also, a ban on entertainment, including performers, parties and live music is been announced for that time.
The Federal Authority Of Government Human Resources took to twitter on Thursday 13 August 2020 and announced the Hijri New Year holiday. The holiday will be on Sunday 23 August 2020 and work will resume on Monday 24th August 2020. The Hijri New Year is also known as the Islamic new year and residence in the country will observe a three day long weekend for all those who have Friday and Saturday as holidays.
