Burj Al Arab Helipad Will Host It’s First Art Exhibition

The Art Maze is the first art show to be held at the Burj Al Arab. The helipad of the Burj Al Arab is an iconic feature that is synonymous with Dubai. And this month, the world-famous structure will host yet another historic event.

In a first for the famed architectural monument, artist Sacha Jafri will conduct an art show on the helipad, which is 212 metres above sea level. Jafri’s paintings will be shown in a custom-built 12-metre-by-12-metre steel labyrinthine gallery created by Marcus Schaefer.

The one-of-a-kind art exhibition on the 24-metre-wide podium commemorates the 50th anniversary of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and will be on display from Wednesday, March 23 to Sunday, March 27.

To link people with culture, Jafri will display 30 oil and acrylic paintings depicting 30 World Heritage Sites. The maze will allow visitors to take their course around the exhibition, while technology will allow them to interact with the art and learn about each UNESCO World Heritage Site through Virtual and Augmented reality experiences.

Due to the high level of security at the Burj Al Arab, The Art Maze will be an invitation to join the event for VIPs, celebrities, entrepreneurs, HNWIs, and art collectors. Following its debut in Dubai, The Art Maze will go on a global tour that will culminate in Abu Dhabi in 2022 and 2023.

“In a world where the metaverse is becoming more of a reality, and where online and physical living is fully integrated, this project is about reconnecting humanity to the beauty that surrounds us by re-establishing links with our heritage and cultural history,” said Jafri. “The Art Maze will be a first-of-its-kind concept where art meets architecture and technology.”
