Mohamed Alabbar, the chairman of Emaar, shared his enthusiasm about the expansion. He said, “The new Dubai Mall expansion is a great addition to one of the most visited sites in the world. It reflects Dubai’s ambitious vision to remain at the forefront of global innovation and culture, further solidifying our city’s position as a top global destination.”
Record-Breaking Popularity
In 2023, Dubai Mall set a new record by becoming the most visited place on Earth, attracting 105 million visitors. This is a significant 19% increase from the previous year, highlighting its incredible appeal. The mall is already the second-largest shopping mall in the world, covering 1.2 million square meters and housing more than 1,200 retail outlets.
Attractions Galore
Dubai Mall is not just about shopping. It boasts a range of attractions that draw visitors from around the globe. Highlights include the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, a 24-screen Reel Cinema, KidZania Dubai, Play DXB, Dubai Ice Rink, Ekart, and the Zabeel Sports District. There’s something for everyone, making it a top destination for both tourists and residents.
Future Projects
But that’s not all. Mohamed Alabbar also hinted at another exciting project: a new mall in Dubai Creek Harbor. This innovative mall will allow customers to drive through it in electric cars. The development will also feature a tower, which Alabbar referred to as the “female Burj Khalifa,” adding yet another iconic landmark to Dubai’s skyline.
