The Largest Artificial Reef

Dubai Reef plans to build the most diverse artificial reef, spanning an impressive 200 square kilometres. This reef will provide a home for more than 1 billion corals and over 100 million mangrove trees, adding immense biodiversity to Dubai’s waters.

What Is Dubai Reef?

Dubai Reef, developed by HaejooX, is a unique floating community centred around marine research, regeneration, and eco-tourism. The project includes a mix of residential, hospitality, retail, educational, and research facilities, making it a living ecosystem for innovation. The heart of the project is a marine institute focused on protecting and restoring Dubai’s coastal environment. One of the main goals is to significantly enhance Dubai’s marine science and conservation efforts.

A Green Future With 100% Renewable Energy

One of the standout features of Dubai Reefs is its commitment to 100% renewable energy. The project will use a combination of solar and hydropower, including wave farms that generate additional clean energy for Dubai’s growing population. Floating eco-lodges will offer visitors unique experiences while being entirely powered by renewable sources.

Climate-Friendly Food Production

Another key element of Dubai Reefs is regenerative ocean farming, a sustainable and climate-friendly method of food production. This innovation is designed to not only support marine life but also contribute to the city’s green economy.

A Blueprint For Coastal Cities

The CEO of URB, Baharash Bagherian, emphasised the global importance of this project, especially for coastal cities at risk due to rising sea levels. He pointed out how the health of cities is closely linked to the health of our oceans. Bagherian sees Dubai as the perfect city to lead this transformation, aiming for Dubai Reefs to serve as a blueprint for ocean living. Beyond marine research and ecotourism, the project seeks to tackle climate change head-on.

With Dubai Reef, the city continues its journey towards becoming a world leader in sustainability and ocean conservation.
