Question of the day – has the edible gold trend gone way too far or is it just Dubai? Because only in Dubai could you stumble upon a café where your afternoon coffee costs more than a luxury handbag! Boho Café, the newest hotspot in the Emirates Financial Towers at DIFC, is turning heads with its over-the-top gold-infused menu. A European tourist recently even became the talk of the town when they splurged over AED 6,000 on a golden mid-day snack. Yes, you read that right – a small fortune to pay for a cup of coffee, a few croissants, and some ice cream! Don’t believe me? Come along, and I’ll spill all the priceless details you need to know.

Was The Bill Really AED 6,600?
Short answer – YES! Here’s how it all added up: the gold souvenir coffee alone cost AED 4,761.90. The tourist also went for 4 gold croissants at AED 1,142.86 and 2 scoops of gold-coated ice cream for AED 380.95. And after you add 5% VAT that brings our grand total to AED 6,600. Don’t worry, there’s a receipt to prove it too…
The receipt even says the order was for takeaway, so we can only imagine which hotel the tourist must be staying at if this was their version of a light afternoon bite.

Local Flavours Dipped In Gold
Since its grand opening last month and this tourist’s hunt for golden dishes, Boho has quickly garnered the attention of residents to check out what the hype is all about. And here’s the kicker – in true Dubai style the cafe even sells a golden karak chai for a whopping AED 150! A far cry from the AED 2 karak chai your favourite cafeteria sells, that’s for sure. Oh, and if your wallet is feeling a little thirsty from all that crying, feel free to rehydrate it with Boho’s AED 300 gold-infused water!
Maybe you love it or maybe you hate it, but it’s clear to see that ‘Dubai’ and ‘Gold’ are a pairing that will stay true till the end of time. So, will you be heading over to Boho Cafe & Restaurant to take a sip of some golden coffee?
