People flying with Etihad Airways can now bring their dog or cat along with them in the passenger cabin. Passengers will have to pay an additional cost of the person’s cabin bag allowance and also show their pet’s veterinary and official documents at the time of check-in. To travel for six hours or fewer costs AED 550 per pet, per flight for the economy class and AED 920 for more than six hours.
“This is a new policy that came into effect earlier this year. Etihad has welcomed trained service animals, and pet cats and dogs on board since September 30, 2021,” said the airline. Guests can bring their small pet cats and dogs in the cabin on all flights to, from and via the UAE, provided all travel conditions are met.” “One adult can bring one pet per flight. This can be increased to two pets if two guests are travelling together, provided the pets are from the same household.”
Travel bookings have to be made at least 72 hours before the travel is scheduled. While booking online details such as a certified health certificate, the pet’s microchip number and fit-to-travel certificate should be mentioned. The weight of the travel bag and pet combined must not exceed more than 8 kilograms. The passenger must check all the entry & exit rules and regulations for the country they are flying to and from.
