1. Khorfakkan

For a day by the coast, Khorfakkan offers beautiful views alongside interesting historic sites. Visit iconic spots like the Khorfakkan waterfall and amphitheatre, or wander through the 400-year-old Portuguese Fort for a glimpse into Sharjah’s past. You can also visit the bustling Souk Sharq, where traditional stalls offer a lively taste of local culture.

2. Al Madam Ghost Town

For those with a sense of adventure, Al Madam is an abandoned village partially taken over by sand. This “ghost town” requires some off-roading to reach. Built in the 1970s to house a nomadic Bedouin tribe, the village was eventually deserted, leaving behind a haunting stillness. Are you brave enough to explore its mysterious ruins?

3. Al Rafisah Dam

4. Hanging Gardens Kalba

Kalba’s new Hanging Gardens is a fresh addition to Sharjah’s list of attractions, boasting over 100,000 trees and flowers. The garden’s centrepiece is a stunning cascading waterfall, with a hiking trail providing panoramic views along the way.

5. Najd Al Maqsar Village

Take a walk back through history at Najd Al Maqsar Village. Nestled in Sharjah’s mountainous terrain, this village has been around for over 4,000 years. You can hike up to the historic fort for incredible views and a real sense of Sharjah’s past.

6. Souq Al Shanasiya

Souq Al Shanasiya is one of the oldest markets in the area. Here you’ll find vendors selling everything from Arabic fragrances and custom-made kandoras to beautiful handcrafted abayas.

7. The Flying Saucer

The Flying Saucer has become a hub for the Sharjah Art Foundation. This space includes an open-air exhibition area, a library, and a café in its underground “Launch Pad” – bringing a fun and futuristic twist to Sharjah’s vibrant cultural scene.

8. The Rabi Trail

The Rabi Trail is a beginner-friendly hike beginning at Al Rabi Tower, which has stood watch over Khorfakkan since 1914. This 5.3km trail leads you through Sharjah’s rugged Hajar Mountains and offers a gentle climb with amazing views.

9. Al Hefaiyah Lake

Whether it’s a peaceful boat ride across the lake, a hike along the trails, or letting the kids enjoy the play area, there’s something for everyone at Al Hefaiyah Lake. And while you’re there, don’t forget to stop at Al Hefaiyah Rest House to enjoy snacks with sweeping views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
