Expo 2020 Dubai: All About The Golden Jubilee Day Celebrations

The last long weekend for the UAE is just around the corner. This weekend also happens to be one of the most awaited festivals of the UAE: National Day. This year it is the 50th one and the whole UAE is beyond excited to celebrate it! Especially at Expo 2020 Dubai, there is an array of events lined up for the festival. From parades to concerts to “hourly surprises”, the National Day weekend at the Expo will be one of a kind!

The gates will be opened by the UAE’s artists, the “people behind the shows that affected so many people emotionally,” according to Amna Abulhoul, executive creative director, events and entertainment, Expo 2020 Dubai. There will be an Emirati welcome in each of the three districts, which will be designed according to where they are located.

Celebrations begin at 10.15 a.m. on December 2 in Al Wasl Plaza, with a flag-raising, speeches by artists, and a children’s choir performing the national anthem. This will be followed by a performance by Al Azi. The five to seven-minute performance will be complemented by a demonstration by 60 Emirati males from various sections of the seven emirates. This will take part in the “Colours of the World Parade” with horses from Dubai Police and the UAE Ministry of Interior Marching Band between 12.45 pm and 1.15 pm. At 1 pm, there will be another Al Azi concert in Al Wasl Plaza. Music fans can plan to attend Al Wasl Plaza at 3.15 pm when singer Fatima Zahrat Al Ain will perform “Music in the Garden.”

Here is the entire list of special performances and shows:

Journey of a Thread

During the National Day weekend, the live performance will take hold at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre in the Al Forsan Zone at 4 pm, 5 pm, and 6 pm. It depicts the narrative of a small child who listens to his grandmother’s stories while she spins thread, and his imagination transports him to various locations.

UAE National Day Ceremony

Visitors may view the UAE’s official 50th National Day celebrations, which will take place in Hatta on December 2 at 5.30 pm and will be aired live at the Jubilee Stage and the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre.

Journey of the 50:

This immersive display, which will take place at Al Wasl Plaza, will be the crowning gem of Expo 2020’s Golden Jubilee performance. The 25-minute performance has been described as an “extension” of Expo 2020’s opening ceremony, as a visually dazzling “summary of who we are.” The performance will have numerous surprises and will be an international production including people from the UAE and throughout the world. The Journey of the 50 will begin at 7 p.m. on December 1 and will continue at 7.30 p.m. and 10.15 p.m. on December 2 to 4. The ceremony will be accompanied by fireworks above Al Wasl Avenue at 8 p.m. on all 4 days. In the end, on December 2, visitors will be able to see Exposonix, a 16-piece National Day musical concert on the Jubilee Stage.

Along with all this, many restaurants and dining places are offering great deals for just AED 50! some of which are, Adrift Burger, Alkebulan African Dining Hall, Veg’d, Cafe Milano, The Irish Village, Alif Cafe by Farm2Table, Long Chim, Rx Coffee Apothecary, Canvas by Coffee + Culture, Rising Flavours and Jubilee Gastronomy.
