The Story Behind Lunetier Vintage DXB
When I bumped into Greg, owner of Lunetier Vintage DXB, I was instantly fascinated. He looked to be in his late 50s, dressed rather sharply, surrounded by an array of Vintage Sunglasses, possessing one of those magnetic personalities that instantly draws you in & makes you smile. We got to talking & he told me about his store , housing an Exclusive Collection of Original , Never Worn, Vintage Shades from the 1950s onwards.
I got curious & asked him how he developed his passion for Vintage Glasses? Was it something he was always interested in or did he accidently drift into it? This is how his story unfolds: As a style-conscious man about London town back in the early 2000s, Greg stumbled across a never-worn vintage glasses business in Portobello Road, Notting Hill & was immediately bitten by the bug.

He started buying more & more Vintage Shades for himself & suddenly became aware that he’d become ‘a collector’. His personal stash now totals in excess of 150 pairs, with pieces from the 1970s onwards, with a particular fondness for big, bold statement styles. The Lunetier Vintage DXB collection, on the other hand, includes pieces from the 1950s onwards, with beautiful Cat-Eye frames & stunning iconic Americana models like the Tart Optical “Arnel”, a model worn by the Legendary James Dean.
Greg’s passion for Vintage Shades is intoxicating .. pointing out the attributes of Vintage over Modern Day glasses; waxing lyrically about Higher Quality, Innovative Design & exquisite attention to detail . He’s traveled far & wide to seek out Vintage Glasses Dealers on all continents, in the hope of adding special pieces to either his Own or the Retail collection.

One of the most interesting stories surrounding the World of Vintage Glasses, probably comes from Greg’s dealer in London. He had in his Private Archive , 1 of the 11 pairs of Linda Farrow Sunglasses, made exclusively for the movie “Scarface” & iconically worn by Al Pacino/Tony Montana. Despite much groveling & pleading, No-One was ever Allowed to try these on!
