Lohri is also known as the harvest festival falls on the 13th of January. On the next day, comes Makar Sankranti which is also known as the kite flying festival. The festival is known as Lohri in Punjab, Makar Sankranti in Gujarat and Maharashtra in West India, and Pongal in Tamil Nadu in South India. Like every year, Dhaba Lane, a locally owned Punjabi restaurant, is gearing up to add some fun to Dubai residents’ celebrations by providing complimentary gift bags for youngsters, as well as scrumptious authentic Punjabi dishes and foot-tapping music throughout the weekend. To honour the occasion, Dhaba Lane is providing complimentary pouches loaded with traditional Lohri sweets like popcorn, peanuts, and gajak (a confection consisting of sesame seeds and jaggery).

Sagar Ratna, which is known for serving delectable vegetarian Marwari and Rajasthani cuisine, is honouring the spirit of the Kite Festival and Lohri Festival by presenting Sarson ka Saag and Makki di Roti in a thali format. The Thali, which includes Sarso ka saag and two Makki Rotis, costs AED 30.
On the 14th of January, the newly opened Modern Mughalai cuisine restaurant Jehangirs will offer all dine-in customers a complimentary portion of its vegetarian appetiser, Cutlet Story (crispy Indian fritters) all day, as well as a complimentary goodie bag of Til Ke Ladoo (Indian Festive Sweet) on each table. Children’s small kites will be given to families dining with children.
Jalebi chaat, Rajma Chawal Arancini, Chakor Kachori, Murgh Patta, Sarson Aloo, Khari Methi Chaman, Salmon Tikka, Veg Haleem, Omelette Curry, Rara Soya, and other delicacies can be found at Jehangir’s.
