421, an independent arts platform and cultural centre, has an exciting lineup of exhibitions and events planned for the upcoming months. One event that stands out and captures our anticipation is a road trip to Al Sadeem Observatory on Sunday, June 18. Departing from the 421 building in Mina Zayed at 7pm, a culture bus will transport participants on a scenic one-hour drive to the observatory located in Al Wathba.
Get Ready For A Remarkable Stargazing Experience
Once we arrive at the observatory, guests will have the opportunity to engage in a remarkable two-hour stargazing experience. This experience will allow us to observe celestial bodies such as the moon, various planets, stars, and other cosmic objects. Both traditional telescopes and advanced smart telescopes like Vespera and Stellina will be available for use during the event. The observatory, which opened its doors to the public in 2016, has been attracting thousands of curious visitors who embark on guided tours and explore the wonders of the night sky.
Celestial Sightings You Can Expect To See In June

In the month of June, the observatory predicts several impressive sightings, including a full moon on the day of the visit. According to the observatory’s website, June marks the time when the Milky Way becomes visible earlier in the night, around 9pm. Additionally, fascinating nebulae decorate the evening skies. As mid-June approaches, the planets Venus and Mars will set close to sunset, providing a captivating spectacle. Furthermore, we will have the chance to experience the year’s first solstice.
After a memorable evening of stargazing, the bus will depart from the observatory at 10pm. Safely transporting guests back to the 421 building, arriving around 11pm.

To secure a spot on this extraordinary trip, tickets are available for purchase at a cost of AED 180. This ticket includes the bus transportation, priced at AED 30.
