Iceland’s 4-Day Work Week Trial Receives Major Success

Iceland has started with a new work policy: a four-day workweek. According to a new report, it is an overwhelming success. “Worker wellbeing dramatically increased across a range of indicators, from perceived stress and burnout to health and work-life balance,” stated the report. At the same time, “productivity and service provision remained the same or improved across the majority of trial workplaces.” “Trials have shown that shortening working hours can have a powerful positive effect,” the report concluded.

The best part was that there was no pay cut for the reduced working hours. This trial was conducted in a variety of workplaces such as hospitals, preschools and many other places which have that typical 9 to 5 working hour.
