Family Travel Ban Lifted

In an announcement on social media platform X, Dubai Courts revealed their new approach: “Dubai Courts adopt a new procedure to facilitate the travel of custodians and their dependents in line with the ‘Social Agenda 33.’ This initiative aims to enhance family happiness, provide top-tier housing and healthcare, and develop an educational system that meets Dubai’s future goals while promoting a tolerant and nationally proud society.”

Streamlined Process For Travel

Under the old rules, parents had to:

  • Obtain a judge’s decision to travel with their children
  • Secure a sponsor to ensure the child’s return
  • Submit an exemption letter to the Criminal Investigation Department to temporarily lift the travel ban

New & Improved Procedures

The revamped process still requires a judge’s decision and sponsor approval but simplifies the rest:

  • Issue a judge’s decision allowing travel
  • Approve a sponsor to ensure the child’s return
  • Lift the travel ban through the Freedom Restriction System
  • Reinstate the travel ban upon the child’s return and lift it for the sponsor

How To Access The New Service

Parents can benefit from this new service by submitting a request to register a file, which includes an order on a petition – permission to travel with children for a specified period. You can visit the UAE government portal for divorce here.

A Step Towards A Happier Community

These changes reflect Dubai’s commitment to supporting family cohesion and happiness, ensuring that administrative hurdles do not stand in the way of meaningful family experiences and the well-being of children.
