How The New Toll Gates Will Work
The Al Safa South toll gate operates similarly to the Al Mamzar North and South gates. If a motorist passes through both the northern and southern Al Safa gates within an hour and in the same direction, they will only be charged once. Each time a vehicle crosses a toll gate, RFID technology scans the vehicle’s Salik tag, and a toll fee of AED 4 is deducted from the driver’s prepaid account.
Locations Of The New Toll Gates
- Al Safa South Gate: For those heading towards Abu Dhabi, the toll gate is located just after the Dubai Water Canal bridge, near the MedCare Orthopedics and Spine Hospital.
- Business Bay Crossing Gate: Positioned on the other side of Sheikh Zayed Road for drivers heading towards Sharjah, it can be found between United Arab Bank and Pupil of Fate Motors, just before turning onto Al Meydan Street.

Going Green: Solar-Powered Toll Gates
In a step toward sustainability, both the Al Safa South gate and the Business Bay Crossing gate will be nearly 100% powered by solar energy, marking a first for Salik.
Dubai drivers and daily commuters to the city can expect further announcements from RTA and Salik before the gates become active.
