Have a convention booked in your calendar coming up soon in Dubai? What about a concert or even an exhibition? If it’s all happening at the Dubai World Trade Centre, you might want to prepare to take the metro there – unless you’re ready to pay AED 25 an hour! That’s right, Dubai’s new privatised paid parking system, Parkin, has increased the parking fees at DWTC. Come with me, and I’ll tell you all the important details you need to know about the variable parking fees.

The ‘Grand Event Zone’
One of the key locations affected by this change is the area around Dubai World Trade Centre, which has now been designated as a “Grand Event Zone.” This suggests that other major event venues could see similar pricing structures in the future. However, not all is lost – if you’re a DWTC frequent flyer don’t worry about this new price applying around the clock. If there’s no event happening at the time and you’ve just got a quick meeting to stop by it will be pricing as usual, no need to dish out AED 25 an hour.

Public Transport Encouraged
To help ease congestion and reduce costs for visitors, Parkin has recommended using public transport instead of driving to event zones. Dubai’s metro, buses, and ride-hailing services could be more convenient alternatives for those attending large-scale gatherings.
With these changes in place, if you’re driving in Dubai be sure to plan ahead to avoid high parking fees. Exploring alternative transport options, carpooling, or parking in nearby areas with lower rates could help save money and time.
