This month five driverless cars will be tested on Yas Island. There will be a safety officer onboard the driverless Bayanat cars just in case. These cars will operate around nine stops on Yas Island. These stops will include shopping malls and hotels. If these test runs are successful, these cars will be converted into a ride-sharing app like Uber that can be used all across the emirate. Abu Dhabi Media Office said that these test run rides will be free!
Mr Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Bayanat said, “Our partnership with DMT and ITC opens up new and exciting opportunities to transform the transport sector, improve road safety, energy consumption, traffic congestion and revolutionize the way people live, work and travel.”
