According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), e-cigarettes and other tobacco products are now prohibited in offices and all other kinds of closed spaces. This decision was put into effect on World No Tobacco Day, which is honoured worldwide on May 31st. According to the newest edition of the Tobacco Atlas, the UAE has one of the lowest cigarette consumption rates in the world & this step will further help to keep these numbers in check!
According to the UAE government website, the following have also been forbidden
- The sale of tobacco products to those under 18
- Smoking in private cars when a child under the age of 12 is present
- Smoking in houses of worship, educational institutions (such as universities and schools), health and sports facilities
- Automatic vending equipment and devices for tobacco distribution inside the country
- Tobacco advertisements

“Tobacco control has emerged as a top priority for MoHAP, and we have devised an integrated strategy through the National Tobacco Control Program,” the ministry stated, adding that “lowering cigarette and tobacco consumption has been adopted as a key performance indicator of the UAE National Agenda.”
