Campsite Reservations & Permits

Here’s what you need to know if you’re eager to join in on the winter camping fun in Dubai! Campsite reservations are open to residents, but there’s a small step to take before you can pitch your tent. You must obtain permits, which are essential for securing your camping spot in these beautiful areas.

Once you have your permits, you can create your own camping space by setting up a temporary fence. The best part? You get to design it just the way you like it, as long as it’s for family use. The DM has even set aside a special place for government partners who want to create their unique camps.

To register your winter camping requests, simply visit the Dubai Government website. You’ll find options for both single and double camping areas, with singles measuring 20 by 20 meters and doubles spanning 20 by 40 meters. However, remember that double camping is only allowed in outdoor areas.

Camp With Care – Rules To Remember

While camping in the Dubai desert is an exciting prospect, the Dubai Municipality has established some rules to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment:

  1. Respect the camp’s temporary private use: When you’re out in the desert, please be mindful of the rules and respect the privacy of other campers.
  2. Permits are for personal use: The permits you obtain should only be used by you and your family, not leased to third parties or for commercial purposes.
  3. Build a temporary fence: put up a temporary fence around your camping area as a safety precaution.
  4. Display your digital dashboard: Make sure the camp’s digital dashboard is placed in a public area for easy reference.
  5. Leave no trace: When your permit expires, ensure that you remove the camp and all associated items. Let’s keep the desert pristine!
  6. No digging or excavations: Any digging or excavations are a big no-no to preserve the desert landscape.

Additionally, it’s important to maintain the hygiene and aesthetics of the campsite and follow fire safety rules:

  • Fire safety: Fire extinguishers must be present inside the camp, and fireworks are strictly prohibited.
  • Responsible riding: If you’re using sand bikes inside the camp, keep your speed below 20 km/h.
  • Lights and sound: Please refrain from using floodlights and speakers to ensure a peaceful and respectful camping experience.

So, as you gear up for a fantastic winter camping season, remember these rules to have a safe and enjoyable adventure. Stay warm, stay safe, and embrace the magic of the Dubai desert. Happy camping, everyone!
