The UAE’s only mentalist couple made a splash on America’s Got Talent last night. America was enamored with their jaw-dropping performance. James Harrington, 38, from the UK, and Ukrainian Marina Liani, 31, a married couple who live in Dubai, impressed the crowd and judges on Tuesday night.
The panel awarded the act four yeses and they received a standing ovation. These two together make up the award-winning mentalist duo, Mind2Mind.
The act started with Liani “mind reading from a distance”, as she stood outside with host Terry Crews and a projection beamed into the theatre. Firstly, Liani asked her husband to hold judge Sofia Vergara’s phone and she identified the remaining battery percentage, which elicited astounded reactions from the audience.
Then, she asked some audience members to share personal memories and write them on a piece of paper, which other judge Heidi Klum held in her hand, while Liani correctly read it out. The crowd went crazy and loved their performance.
Harrington says that they make no claims to having any psychic abilities, but instead say it’s purely through emotional connection that they can achieve what they do. They tried to prove this on the British version of the show in 2019, where they taught Cowell how to read judge Amanda Holden’s mind.
The couple even performed on Ukraine’s Got Talent where they were the recipients of the coveted golden buzzer. They currently perform exclusively at corporate events but have also performed for some big names like tennis star, Novak Djokovic, the Prince of Monaco and Criss Angel.
Liani and Harrington met in 2017 via Tinder, an online dating app. Liani arrived in Dubai nine years ago and previously worked at the Dubai Airport as cabin crew for Flydubai. Harrington came to Dubai 14 years ago as a hotel performance act at the Kempinski.
The pair plan to open a mentalist theatre show in Dubai. This transition to theatre is a chance for the Dubai locals and tourists to enjoy the Mind2Mind show. We are super excited for the happy couple and wish them best of luck in all their future ventures.
