At Gitex Global 2024, the Dubai RTA showcased the Floc Duo rail, a cutting-edge transport system designed to make urban travel smoother and more efficient. These autonomous electric pods glide quietly above the ground, offering a hassle-free way to get from one point to another in the city. A video displayed at the event gave a glimpse of how these futuristic pods could eventually deliver passengers directly to their front doors.

A Simple & Efficient Setup
What makes the Floc Duo rail even more remarkable is how easy and affordable it is to construct. According to Hassan Al Mutawa, the Rail Maintenance Director at the RTA, the system can be built quickly without requiring specialised infrastructure. Once manufactured, the pods and rail components can be assembled directly on-site. “We’re currently testing the prototype,” Hassan said, adding that it will be implemented in Dubai once it’s ready for full deployment.
Pods Tailored For Dynamic City Life
Each of the pods on display featured space for eight passengers and was designed to be flexible in operation. The pods can either move individually or connect with other pods depending on traffic needs, creating a dynamic system that adjusts in real-time.
