The UAE Public Prosecution has cautioned people against organised begging, threatening them with up to six months in prison and a fine of AED100,000 if found. They also reaffirmed anybody who brings someone else into the nation to beg as a member of an organization will face the same punishment.
According to Article 476 of the Federal Decree-Law No 31 of 2021 on Promulgating the Penal Code (Law of Crimes and Penalties), “whoever manages the organised begging offence committed by an organised group of two or more people” will be sentenced to “detention for a minimum term of six months and a minimum fine of Dh100,000.”
