Key Details You Need To Know
Major General Suhail Juma Al Khaili, Director General of Identity and Passports at the ICP, explained that the 10-year validity is specifically for citizens aged 21 and above. Younger citizens will continue to receive passports with a five-year validity. The new passports will be issued through the same procedures and channels as the current ones. Citizens can apply for the new 10-year service when their current passport expires or when all its pages are used up (whichever comes first).
Convenient Renewal Options
Renewing the new 10-year passport is easy. Within the UAE, citizens can go to their local passport office, managed by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. For emergencies, passport offices at the Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah airports are open 24/7. Citizens living abroad can renew their passports through UAE embassies and consulates.
