The countdown to UAE’s first long weekend of 2025 is on, and Dubai residents couldn’t be more excited for their getaways! I have all the details on how long our Eid Al Fitr public holiday will be, so keep reading to find out more.

As we all know, Ramadan started on Saturday, March 1, which means it’s far easier for us to predict when Eid Al Fitr will begin. However, because the Islamic calendar follows lunar sightings, the exact date can only be officially confirmed closer to the time.
Here’s what we know so far:
When the UAE Cabinet announced the public holidays for 2025, they confirmed that the Eid Al Fitr holiday would run from Ramadan 30 (if the month is 30 days) until Shawwal 3. The government also introduced a new rule allowing some public holidays to be carried over if they fall on a weekend. However, this does not apply to Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha – so if Ramadan is 29 days and Eid starts on Sunday, March 30 we will not get any extra days for these celebrations during the working week.
With UAE’s first long break on the horizon, now’s the perfect time to start planning that Eid Al Fitr vacation.
