UAE Lifts 21-Month-Long Travel Ban On Nigerian Nationals Based On These Conditions

In breaking news, the UAE has lifted its 21-month-long visa ban on Nigerian nationals, opening up travel opportunities once again. This decision comes with a new set of rules requiring digital verification for Nigerian passport holders seeking visas. Nigeria’s information minister, Mohammed Idris, announced that the UAE’s decision came after “mutually beneficial negotiations” between the two governments. New Conditions In Place For Nigerians

Nigerian visitors will now have to adhere to updated controls and conditions to obtain a visa. This involves submitting documents that prove their identity and show their travel history to generate a verification number. An exception is made for applicants who are 13 years old or younger.

How To Obtain A UAE Visa

To visit the UAE with a Nigerian passport, it’s now mandatory to first obtain a Document Verification Number (DVN). Here’s how you can get started:

  3. Receive Your DVN: Once your documents are reviewed, you will receive your DVN within 5 business days.
  4. Proceed to Visa Application: Use your DVN to proceed with your UAE visa application.

This announcement marks the end of a tense stand-off and resumes a much-sought-after route for business and leisure travellers as trade between the two nations has grown. The initial ban was due to various issues, including allegations of improper conduct and attempts to circumvent visa rules. The situation escalated when Nigeria reduced Emirates Airlines’ flights from 21 times a week to just once in retaliation for the UAE’s refusal to allow Nigerian airline Air Peace to fly three times a week to Dubai.
