UAE: NCEMA Announces EID Al Fitr Safety Guidelines

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has announced a series of precautionary measures in advance of the Eid Al Fitr holiday. On April 27, 2022, late in the evening, the news was delivered via the official Twitter account. The NCEMA emphasises the need of wearing face masks and encourages the public to practise social distance, especially while near susceptible groups.

The administration also asked that people confine their festivities to family and relatives. The NCEMA recommends using electronic alternatives for Eid gifting. On the Al Hosn app, a green pass will also be required. Masks must be worn at all times during Eid Al Fitr prayers in mosques, and social distance must be maintained.

To avoid congestion, physical distance labels will be put outside the mosques, and gatherings may take place in parks and parking lots around the mosques. Police patrols, volunteers, and imams will be on the lookout for worshippers.

Worshippers will need to bring their own or disposable worship mats, and prayer and Khutba should not last more than 20 minutes. The NCEMA asked the public to avoid crowds and to refrain from shaking hands after prayer time. According to the NCEMA, the country’s Covid-19 instances are continuing to fall as a result of the efforts of numerous authorities, particularly those in the health sector.
