Starting September 1, UAE-based travellers can apply for Japan e-visas through VFS Global. You can submit your applications at two convenient locations: Wafi Mall in Dubai and The Mall in Abu Dhabi. VFS Global and the Japanese missions in the UAE launched these visa application centres recently, making the process smoother and more accessible. You can book your appointments for both short-term and long-term visas online without any extra charges. However, when you visit the centres, there is an AED 100 service fee on top of the visa costs. Come with me and I’ll tell you all the details on what you need to know about securing your Japan visa!

Processing Times
Wondering how long it will take? The average processing time for a Japan visa is 8 working days. However, it could take up to 3 weeks, depending on the documents you submit. Keep this in mind when planning your travel.
VFS Global’s Role
VFS Global is here to help with the administrative side of things. They handle the collection of visa application forms and required documents. However, they don’t have any say in whether your visa is approved or denied. That decision is entirely up to the Japanese Embassy and Consulate.

Resuming Services
Earlier this year, the e-visa service for some UAE residents was paused, requiring applications to be submitted directly to the consulate. Now, with the reopening of these centres, applications will no longer be accepted directly by the missions. This change aims to streamline the process and cater to the growing number of visa applications.
Strengthening Ties Between Two Nations
Consul General of Japan to Dubai, Imanishi Jun, hopes that these centres will make the visa process more convenient and faster for travellers. This initiative is also seen as a way to promote cultural exchanges between Japan, the UAE, and Dubai, further strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
