The UAE will experience two pink supermoons this year. One was yesterday (that is 27th April) and one will exactly one month after, May 27th. Supermoon basically means that the moon will be closer to the Earth and hence will appear bigger and much brighter. This time the supermoon will appear pink in colour.
“Pink moon or supermoon we are witnessing tonight means the moon is closer to the earth. The full moon is already in the sky so people can observe it very clearly and it also marks the middle of Ramadan. Scientifically speaking, when the moon comes closest to the earth it’s called a supermoon phenomenon,” said Hasan Al Hariri CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group.
