30 Upcoming Shows, Events, Sport Events, Concerts And Festivals In Abu Dhabi

I could sit here and go on and on about all the things I love about Abu Dhabi, but if I did, we would be here all day. Instead, I bring an extensive list of all the must-attend shows, concerts, sporting events and much more that Abu Dhabi has lined up for the rest of 2023. Now that globally all Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted, with everything Abu Dhabi has planned, it’s clear that they are not here to cut corners or take shortcuts. Go big or go home, they say, and Abu Dhabi is definitely here to stay!

Sports

1. Monster Jam 13th and 14th May

The most thrilling, outrageously sized, enormously visceral, petrol-driven extravaganza in motorsport is set to spin rubber in Abu Dhabi in 2023. As part of the event’s global 30th anniversary victory lap, Monster Jam will perform its jaw-dropping stunts and fantastical vehicular mayhem at Yas Island’s Etihad Arena on May 13 and 14. Fans of all ages will be able to watch the legendary circuit veterans Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, and Max-D engage in gravity-defying 110kph, six-ton, big-wheel adventures (though the full and final lineup is still TBC). Prices for tickets are listed on Etihad arena website and start at just AED 135. Pit party access is an additional AED 50, and VIP packages start at AED 645.

2. Jiu-Jitsu Challenge Championship, 26th – 28th May

If you’re a fan of martial arts and looking for an exciting experience, then the Jiu-jitsu Challenge Championship in Abu Dhabi is the event you don’t want to miss. 4. International Conference On Sports Nutrition And Supplements – 28th And 29th May

If you’re a fitness enthusiast or health professional and looking to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in sports nutrition and supplements, then the International Conference on Sports Nutrition and Supplements is an event you don’t want to miss. The conference brings together some of the world’s leading experts in the field of sports nutrition and supplements to share their research and knowledge. 5. International Basketball, August

The Milwaukee Bucks, who will also be the league champions in 2021, and the Atlanta Hawks will play two preseason exhibition games against one another in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, the sport will triumphantly return to Abu Dhabi this summer, as stated by the Department of Culture and Tourism — Abu Dhabi (DCT) at the ITB Berlin (the world’s largest tourism trade fair). Three games will be played this August, featuring the national teams of Greece, Germany, and the United States. August, venue TBD (though it’s more than likely to be the Etihad Arena), and ticket prices TBD.

6. NBA Preseason Warmup Matches, 5th Snd 7th October

Two top-tier NBA teams, the Milwaukee Bucks (who also happen to be 2021 league champions) and the Atlanta Hawks, to meet in Abu Dhabi for a pair of pre-season friendlies. And we now know that the two teams taking part in the NBA pre season friendly this October will be the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves. These games will once again take place at Etihad Arena, on Yas Island on October 5 and 7, 2023. The tickets aren’t on sale yet but you can register your interest on the NBA website.

7. Abu Dhabi Sports Snd Fitness Expo – 14th End 15th October

The expo is the premier fitness event in the Middle East, featuring the latest fitness equipment, products, and services from top brands in the industry. You’ll have the opportunity to attend workshops, classes, and demonstrations, and learn from some of the top fitness experts in the world.

8. UFC 294, 21st October

The UFC Fight Island series, the biggest event in MMA, is coming back to Abu Dhabi this year. This fight night, which takes place on October 21, will mark the 18th UFC event to take place in Abu Dhabi; the first was UFC 112: INVINCIBLE in April 2010, before the advent of the PCR. Fans of fistycuff are urged to register their interest on the visitabudhabi website in order to gain early access to the event even though tickets are not yet available and the fighters’ inked names have not yet been stamped on the schedule.

9. Formula 1 Etihad Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, 26th – 29th November

The 2023 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix tickets are now available. This year, from November 26 to 29, the Yas Marina Circuit will be filled with the thunderous roar of supreme engineering. In addition to the fun and culinary extravagance of the race village, the roving entertainment, and aerobatic displays, ticket holders will once again have access to whichever artist (currently all acts are still to be announced) is performing at the Yasalam after race concerts on that day. This year, however, there is a welcome addition: you will also receive admission to one of the Yas Island theme parks, either Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi or Yes Island.

10. T10 Abu Dhabi, November 28th And December 9th

The T10s, a competition featuring cricket’s quickest and most thrilling format, will probably visit Abu Dhabi for a fifth time later this year. The Abu Dhabi T10 is renowned for its lightning-bowled, electric-paced, big swinging, six-smashing, quickfire wicket-breaking matches that are typically over in a few hours. The T20 World Cup, the IPL, and the 2021 T10 Abu Dhabi, which took place in late January or early February, were all held in the UAE two years ago, making it the literal epicentre of the cricketing world. Several A-List cricketing legends attended the tournament, and players like Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, and Faf du Plessis put on standout performances. The tournament’s dates for this year have been set.

11. Spartan World Champion, 9th And 10th December 

Abu Dhabi is the perfect location to host the gruelling trials required by the Spartan World Championship because it has some physically demanding landscapes. The stunning Martian-like dunescape of Al Wathba was traversed by the Spartan tribe last year while navigating obstacle-filled courses. It is scheduled to return to that area this year from December 9 to December 10.

12. ADNOC Marathon, 16th December 

Elite distance runners from around the world will be invited to compete in this year’s ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, which will take place on Saturday, December 16. Unwilling to put in the full effort? You can also participate in the 10k, 5k, and 2.5k relay races. With a 30% early bird discount, full Marathon participation is currently available for AED 245 (plus tax).

13. Mubadala World Tennis Championships, December (dates TBD)

In December of this year, the Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC), one of tennis’ most eagerly awaited invitation-only racket rocket battles, will return to the city. Stadiums were packed, shocking upsets occurred, and exciting tournament debuts occurred in 2022. There was a large, international audience watching every smash, ace, rally, and lightning cross-court volley. The Tennis Village’s extracurricular activities reached new heights. Ons Jabeur and Stefanos Tsitsipas won the men’s and women’s titles on the courts, respectively. The event typically begins in the middle of December and is held at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City (dates for 2023 TBA).

Shows

1. Peter Pan On Ice, 12th & 13th May

Prepare for a mystical journey this May as Peter Pan on Ice makes its way to the United Arab Emirates. Follow Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy, John, Michael, and the Lost Boys as they battle Captain Hook in their adventures. On Friday, May 12 and 13, the performance will be held at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi for two days, with tickets beginning at AED 175 per person.

2. Emirate Theatre: Samra, 26th May

Written and Directed by Marei Al Halyan. Platinumlist describes how the performance ‘The performance deals with the life of a group and the relationship of its members under an exceptional circumstance, where the group is invited by an institution that organises a global forum, to perform a concert in front of the participating delegations. An emergency prevents the band from performing, which makes its members feel frustrated. In addition to the fact that the group’s goal is to gain from these singing sessions, but they contemplate the art of Tarab and use it as a way of self-expression’. However, do note that on the day of the event seats will be on a first come first serve basis.

3. Fontana Circus Show, 1st – 7th June

the Fontana Circus Show is coming to town. From the 1st to the 7th of June in Marina Mall Abu Dhabi, enjoy the week-long circus extravaganza. You can expect to see nothing less than captivating aerialist displays, special effects, dancing musical fountains and world-class performers. With tickets going for less than AED 100 its fun and affordable time for everyone.

4. Paw Patrol, 8th – 11th June

Paw Patrol Live is coming back to Abu Dhabi this summer, which will excite the kids’ ears if you’re looking for some exciting news to share with them. With the aid of vintage theatrical scenery and a cutting-edge video wall, children and adults will be transported to the world of Paw Patrol, including Adventure Bay, The Lookout, Seal Island, and other locations. Little ones are encouraged to participate in the audience interaction-rich stage production. Over four million people have watched Paw Patrol Live since it debuted in the autumn of 2016, with viewers coming from more than 40 different nations. Parents and children alike have fallen in love with the unforgettable broadway experience and the captivating plot.

5. Disney On Ice, 11th – 15th October

Marvel as the talented Disney on Ice cast glides as they sing their biggest Disney hits. That’s right, even though Disney on Ice is aimed at Abu Dhabi’s younger audiences, we all know that the adults are really the ones celebrating 100 years of only the best that Disney has to offer. This year’s edition of the yearly extravaganza is back. All the magic and wonder we cherish will be brought to Abu Dhabi by Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Wonder. 6. Jo Koy – 28th October

It only makes sense that comedian Jo Koy would grace Abu Dhabi with his presence as part of his 2023 World Tour after his resounding success in Dubai the previous year. In October, the comedian will visit Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena for an evening that is sure to be filled with belly-aching fun. The arena will host his performance on Saturday, October 28. 7. The Illusionists, 8 – 10th December

The Illusionists performed for us in 2015, and they’ll be back in Abu Dhabi this year in December with a tonne of brand-new illusions up their sleeves. On Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the Etihad Arena will host a three-day performance by the renowned magic troupe from Friday, December 8, to Sunday, December 10. Prices for tickets begin at AED 95.

8. Hamilton, 17th January 2024 To 4th February 2024

You’ve probably heard of Hamilton even if you don’t consider yourself “a musical type of person.” It’s a massive, board-treading spectacle made of entirely different theatrical materials. Using a song sheet that weaves narratives from hip-hop, pop, jazz, R&B, soul, and *jazz hands* Broadway into the songs — The Lin-Manuel Miranda extravaganza Hamilton tells “the story of America then told by America now” and is based on a Ron Chernow biography. Hamilton will take up residence at Yas Island’s Etihad Arena from January 17 through February 4, 2024. On Friday, May 19, tickets for the early bird pre-sale will go on sale. On Monday, May 22, tickets will go on general sale.

1. Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, 22nd – 28th May

As one of the largest and most prestigious book fairs in the Middle East, this event brings together publishers, authors, and book enthusiasts from all around the world. You’ll have the chance to explore countless exhibitors showcasing the latest titles, attend exciting book talks and workshops, and meet some of your favourite authors in person. 2. International Indian Film Academy Awards, 26th And 27th May

All the biggest Bollywood stars under one roof in Abu Dhabi for two nights of Green Carpet glitz, exciting performances, and the announcement of the most coveted awards in the business. At Yas Island’s Etihad Arena, the 23rd edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards will be celebrated on Friday, May 26, and Saturday, May 27.

3. Cartier, Islamic Inspiration And Modern Design Exhibition at Louvre Abu Dhabi, 15th November 2023 To 24th March 2024

This exhibition showcases the fascinating relationship between Islamic art and modern design, and features stunning works of art and jewellery from the Cartier collection. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the intricate designs and craftsmanship of Islamic art and see how it has inspired modern design. In addition to the exhibition, you can also enjoy the unique architecture and stunning location of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which offers breathtaking views of the waterfront and surrounding city. 4. Abu Dhabi Art, 22nd – 26th November

The annual art fair in Abu Dhabi offers numerous initiatives and events to involve the general public, making it more than just a traditional trade fair. This year, during its 15th iteration, Abu Dhabi Art is showcasing artwork from over leading and emerging galleries in addition to featuring a curatorially driven programme, making this its most comprehensive and diverse to date. This programme also includes art installations, talks, and performances taking place in various locations. November 20 through November 26 are the dates set for it.

5. National Day – 2nd December

Air shows, theatrical productions, fireworks, sales, festivals, a carnival-like atmosphere, and widespread celebrations are just a few of the reasons the nation adores marking the UAE’s official birthday. We turn 52 this year, and as always, the nation’s capital, Abu Dhabi, will serve as the main gathering place for celebrations. However, we’ll have to wait a little while longer to learn exactly what this year’s celebration has installed for us.

Concerts

1. Guns N’ Roses, 1st June

Prepare to rock because Guns N’ Roses will soon be in Abu Dhabi. On June 1, the rock and roll legends will perform at Yas Island’s Etihad Arena. Since their formation in 1985, the powerhouse band has been rocking the world for the past five years. They most recently performed in Abu Dhabi as a part of a fantastic F1 after-race concert lineup in 2018. Guns N’ Roses will play some of their most well-known rock anthems from the previous four decades as they make their way to Abu Dhabi as part of the Middle Eastern leg of their world tour. This includes Welcome To The Jungle, Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, and Sweet Child O’ Mine.

2. Arijit Singh, 17th And 18th November

Arijit Singh is one of the most popular singers in India, known for his soulful and romantic melodies. He has a massive fan following around the world, and his live performances are known for their energy and intimacy. This is an excellent opportunity to see Arijit Singh perform live in the beautiful city of Abu Dhabi, with its vibrant culture and lively atmosphere. The concert promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring some of Arijit Singh’s most popular songs, and offering a chance to sing along with thousands of fans. Don’t miss the chance to see him perform some of his greatest hits live, such as ‘Kesariya’, ‘Tum Hi Ho’ and many more.

1. LIWA Festival, 16th – 31st December 2023

In celebration of Emirati heritage and culture, come down to LIWA Village, a city that only emerges once a year to host an incredibly epic desert festival. Visitors have access to concerts, family activities, shows, rides, arcade games, spectacular immersive dining experiences, interesting demonstrations of Emirati heritage and crafts, eGaming tournaments, souk shopping from top-tier local fashion brands, and more during the 2022 session. One of the highlights was Fuel Fest Arabia (will it return? ), where attendees could meet the stars of the Fast and Furious movie franchise, including Ludacris, Cody Walker, Tyrese Gibson and others. Ludacris is also said to be performing a closing concert. From 16th to the 31st December 2023.

2. Mother Of Nation Festival – 24th December 2023 to 1st January 2024

The Mother of Nation Festival is a grand event commemorated to honour the inspirational values of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak. In the Abu Dhabi Corniche, from the 23rd of December 2023 to the 1st of January 2014 expect to see world-class entertainment and experience an end of year bash like no other.
