What Is Regag, You may ask?

So for those of you at the back who don’t know what Regag is we’ll break it down nice and easy for you. Regag is a popular Emirati snack that is an integral part of the culinary traditions of the United Arab Emirates. It is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, and can be found in many Emirati households and snack shops throughout the country. Regag is a thin and crispy bread, often referred to as a type of Emirati pancake. It is typically made from a simple batter consisting of flour, water, and salt, although variations in recipes may exist. The batter is spread thinly on a hot griddle or pan, allowing it to cook quickly and develop a delicate, crispy texture.

One of the defining characteristics of regag is its versatility when it comes to fillings. Emirati households and snack shops offer a wide variety of options to accompany the bread. For a savoury experience, regag can be paired with succulent kebabs, enhancing their flavours and providing a satisfying crunch. Alternatively, it can be enjoyed with a spread of Nutella, eggs, and cheese, creating a delightful combination of sweet and savoury flavours. Another popular choice is to enjoy regag with a fish sauce and chips, offering a unique fusion of local and international tastes.
