Can You Get the Day Off for Diwali in the UAE?
This year, Diwali happens to be on a Friday, which is part of the working week for many UAE residents. However, since Diwali is not a recognized public holiday in the UAE, businesses aren’t legally required to give time off for the occasion. But don’t worry! If Diwali is an important celebration for you, it’s definitely worth checking with your employer early to see if they’re open to offering leave for the festival. It’s always best to ask ahead of time so you can plan with your employer and avoid last-minute scrambling.
Some companies may be more accommodating, especially for their employees who celebrate Diwali. However, if your workplace doesn’t offer a holiday for the occasion, you may need to dip into your annual leave if you want to make the most of the celebrations.
